Itinerary
- Route: Srinagar Airport to Pahalgam (approx. 90 km / 3 hours drive).Activities: Arrive in Srinagar and board a taxi to the Nunwan Base Camp or a pre-booked hotel in Pahalgam. Spend the evening preparing your gear and completing mandatory biometric or RFID verification.Stay: Overnight in Pahalgam.
- Route: Pahalgam to Chandanwari (16 km via local vehicle), then trek to Sheshnag (12 km on foot/pony).Altitude Change: 2,440 meters up to 3,590 meters.Trek Duration: 5–6 hours.Highlights: The trek officially starts from Chandanwari. You will face a steep, challenging climb right away at Pissu Top before hitting a gradual incline to the beautiful alpine Sheshnag Lake.Stay: Overnight in tents at the Sheshnag camp.
- Route: 14 km trek.Altitude Change: Ascend to Mahagunas Pass (4,587 meters) and descend to Panchtarni (3,657 meters).Trek Duration: 7–8 hours.Highlights: This is the toughest day of the trek. You will cross the oxygen-thin Mahagunas Pass before heading down into the sweeping meadows of Panchtarni, where five rivers intersect.Stay: Overnight in tents at the Panchtarni camp.
- Route: 6 km trek to the Holy Cave, and 6 km back to Panchtarni.Altitude Change: 3,657 meters to 3,888 meters.Trek Duration: 4–5 hours round-trip.Highlights: Start early around 4:00 AM to beat the crowds. Queue up for Darshan of the naturally forming ice stalagmite Shivling. Once prayers are offered, trek back to Panchtarni.Stay: Overnight at Panchtarni camp (or proceed back to Sheshnag if stamina permits)
- Route: 26 km descent back to Chandanwari, then drive back to Srinagar.Duration: 8–10 hours of trekking, followed by a 3-hour drive.Highlights: Begin your return early in the morning. You will trace your steps back down via Sheshnag and Pissu Top to Chandanwari, where your vehicle will return you to Srinagar.
