Itinerary

  • Arrive at Guwahati airport/railway station and begin your road journey to Bhalukpong (approx. 5-6 hours) or continue further to Dirang (approx. 9 hours total). Bhalukpong sits by the Kameng River and is a good place for nature lovers, while Dirang is a picturesque valley town. Overnight Stay: Bhalukpong or Dirang.

  • After breakfast, proceed to Tawang, a high-altitude town (approx. 7-8 hours from Dirang). En route, visit the Tipi Orchidarium (if starting from Bhalukpong), stop at the scenic Sela Pass (13,700 ft) and the adjacent Sela Lake (also known as Paradise Lake), and pay homage at the Jaswant Garh War Memorial. Overnight Stay: Tawang.

  • Explore Tawang's key attractions after breakfast. Visit the magnificent Tawang Monastery, the largest Buddhist monastery in India. See the birthplace of the 6th Dalai Lama, Urgelling Monastery, and explore the local craft center. In the evening, visit the Tawang War Memorial and consider staying for the light and sound show. Overnight Stay: Tawang.

  • Take a full-day excursion to the Indo-China border at Bum La Pass (15,200 ft), which requires a special permit arranged locally. En route, visit the beautiful high-altitude Shonga-tser Lake (popularly known as Madhuri Lake) and other nearby lakes like PTSO Lake. Return to Tawang by evening. Overnight Stay: Tawang.

  • After breakfast, start your journey back towards Bomdila (approx. 7 hours). En route, stop to admire the stunning Nuranang Falls. Upon arrival in Bomdila, check into your hotel and later visit the local market and the Bomdila Monastery. Overnight Stay: Bomdila.

  • Enjoy an early breakfast and begin the long drive back to Guwahati (approx. 8-9 hours). You can make a brief stop at the Bomdila View Point for a final panoramic view of the Himalayan ranges. Proceed to the Guwahati Airport/Railway Station for your onward journey, ensuring you have ample time for check-in
